Apogaea Inc.
President & Board Member
Apogaea Inc. produces Colorado's officially sanctioned regional Burning Man event. Scott's involvement began in 2010 as a Temple Builder and grew into one of the most substantive leadership roles of his life: Communications Lead (2011-2013), Board Member (2011-2014), DPW Daily Lead (2012-2013), President (elected 2013 for the 2013-2014 term), and Volunteer Database Lead (2015). Under his presidency, the 2014 event was the largest in Apogaea history: 2,100 tickets sold, 800+ volunteers managed, a $150,000 production budget, $50,000 in art grants awarded to community artists, and 27% attendance growth — the largest single-year increase ever recorded. He also completely revamped the organization's website, wrote and implemented its Code of Conduct for Online Community Engagement, co-created the "Flaming Art" communications persona, transitioned the board from operational to policy-making, introduced the "Supervolunteers" organizational tier, built the open-source volunteer database that managed 1,000+ volunteers, set up Google SSO for 180+ members, and represented Apogaea at the 2014 Burning Man Global Leadership Conference.
