Digital Globe iPad App
A networked Unity3D experience that teaches satellite imaging through play.
At Mondo Robot, a digital agency, I worked on an interactive iPad experience that taught Digital Globe's prospective clients how satellite imaging actually works: how data is captured and held on the satellite until a ground station passes underneath to receive it, and how two scans taken from different angles combine into a single 3D scene. Built in Unity3D and networked, so a presenter running a live sales pitch could control when the experience advanced to the next section.
It was barely a game in the usual sense — there were points, but almost no skill required. That was deliberate. The design challenge wasn't difficulty, it was making something abstract and technical feel tangible enough that a non-engineer in a sales meeting would get it and remember it.
