DallasFestEvil.com

The entire web operation for a Dallas haunted house festival โ€” an early playbook for guerrilla community marketing.

2004 - 2005 ยท Archived

I built DallasFestEvil for a Dallas haunted house festival, working with a promoter on a very limited budget against a festival that had flopped the year before. The site refreshed daily with new content during the event and exclusive mailing-list club ("R.I.P. All Access") with online scavenger hunts and sponsor prizes, a cross-promotion banner exchange, and a photo system that turned out to be the biggest traffic driver of all.

The festival succeeded. I wrote the whole thing up as a case study afterward. It's basically standard community-marketing practice โ€” written about a decade before that became the standard.
