100 Days of Boarding

Me posing in front of a snowman at Steamboat Springs

I’ve been challenged, so to speak. I was discussing my move to Colorado on SnowboardAddicts and a poster said, “It isn’t a full season unless you ride over 100 days…” That sounds like enough of a challenge to me. It’s going to be extremely difficult to pull off with a full time job in Broomfield, but I’m going to shoot for 100 days of riding this season.

While it sounds impressive to say that I’ve been snowboarding since 2001, I haven’t actually had many riding days. I just did the tally and I’ve been riding a grand total of 36 days. That’s just over a third of a season, according to the fellow quoted above. I’ve decided that I am going to set this as my low. I absolutely can not, under any circumstances, ride for less than 36 days this season. Riding 36 days will be equivalent of finishing the race, but coming in last place.

The real question is, do I count my days in Chile? Our season hasn’t really started yet – so it would be pre-season… So honestly, it’s a tad unfair to count them. However, last season is over and hitting my goal of 100 days is going to be rough. I think I’m going to consider my Pucon days as a handicap – but still shoot for 100 days during the Colorado season. However, if I travel out of Colorado during the season and board elsewhere, those days definitely go in the pool – no doubt.

To reinforce my goal, I created a category here called “100 Days in 06/07” where I will report my progress as I go.

100 days. Hot! Think there was someone off the Sierra Snowboard Forums that hit 100 days this year too. Been riding since 2004, got 35 days in last year when I finally took it seriously. Major damage though finance wise.

Enjoy your time in Chile, this August will also be my first time down south riding. Hitting up Bariloche for a week or two.
